An audit starts long before anyone gets to a judgement. Requests go out to the client, documents come back by email in every format, deadlines move, and in a lot of small firms it is all tracked in spreadsheets and macros.
Captier is a Danish company built to take that apart. Its software gives an audit firm one place for every request it sends a client: a list per client and per financial year, uploads, comments, reminders, the status of each item and a queue for approving what comes back, in Danish and English and hosted in the EU. Audit firms in Denmark are using it today.
The next stage
Gathering the evidence is only the start. The founders' plan is for Captier to carry the audit work that follows: planning, procedures, working papers and the report, starting with the extended review that many small Danish companies need each year, a lighter engagement than a full audit with its own clear rules.
That is the part we are building with them. We are working on the product and the engineering for this next stage, in Danish, for the auditors who will use it, with every step following the professional standard the work is judged against.
